Hey blokes (and girls),

Isuzu Wasp just came up for sale on eBay; trayback with spares and "Isuzu Bellett same car model" - unsure if this is spares from such a car, or if it comes with the car.

Anyway, no pics which is not helpful and a $1000 start bid plus reserve.

Needless to say, anybody who is keen is going to need to visit or get pics - it's in Bungendore, NSW.

I'm not keen; I've got a Wasp thanks, but hopefully someone scores it - they're not thick on the ground!

Does anybody already know the car???

Colour listed as "blue" so might be rocking the original blue? What's it called again? Oh yeah, Wasp Blue!

This one is quite close (40 mins drive) to me in Canberra, so I'm trying to arrange a viewing, some pics and some more details of just what's available. I'll let you know how I go. Not being familiar with Wasps, is there anything I should look for in particular?

Cheers, Vic

the specific Wasp parts are vital Vic.
door window surrounds, front guards, grille and headlight surrounds, badges, of course all the running gear, brakes, suspension, etc.
most other things can be sub'd off a Bellett.

He replied to my email and I am now waiting for him to ring me. Just to clarify something, the Ebay ad seems to imply there is a Wasp and a Bellett. Apparently the only vehicle is the Wasp but he also has some parts for a Bellett. I'll try to find out what reserve he has on it.

Vic

I have spoken to the seller and arranged to have a look at the Wasp on Saturday morning (5 May). I will get pictures and details of what's available, and should have them uploaded on Sunday (I'll be away from home all Saturday). Apparently it was running and being driven on the farm up to about 5 years ago, then the owner noticed corrosion in the thermostat housing (??) and partly dismantled it - I think the radiator is out too. Anyway we'll see. Let's hope it's better than your typical paddock basher.

I can't take on this as a project myself, but maybe I can help in saving it.

Cheers, Vic

Thanks for going to the trouble Vic. I also asked a question, but no reply.
I suppose he can see there is some interest.

Cheers, Matt

Hi all,

Well, I visited the Wasp yesterday and I have bad news and good. The bad news is that it isn't a one owner immaculate granny car with the plastic still on the door trims    . The good news is that it's pretty straight, solid and complete. If I were looking for a Wasp project I would definitely take this on.

I've uploaded some pics to Photobucket - here's a link:
http://s122.photobucket.com/albums/o262 ... 1QQtppZZ16

It appears to have very little rust (except for minor surface rust in various places. The doors still shut quite well and there is no sign of rust in the sills, floors, around the windscreen. Obviously it's not perfect - someone has drilled a hole in the roof for example, and it's been resprayed "not all that well". The seat would need complete re-upholstery, but the interior door panels would probably clean up OK.

It hasn't run for about 5 years because the owner went to replace a corroded thermostat housing and then stopped. The radiator is out or the car (sitting on the rear tray). There are various Wasp/Bellett parts including a couple of bumpers (Bellett?), a propshaft, brake drums, wiring looms, a teardrop tailight, a twin-carby with the carbs, headlights, master cylinders etc.

Geoff Kelly, the seller, says he is hoping to get about $1500 for it (including all parts). I'll let others comment on that. If you are interested you can ring Geoff on 0418 432 931. I have some more pics that I'll upload to that site later today (they have to be resized and I'm in a hurry at the moment)

That looks like a pretty tidy little ute.
Well worth $1500 he's hoping for in my opinion
