buying it is only the first step then you will need at least another couple of grand before you drive it.car cariers dont like cars they cant drive, so getting it out of port macqurie will be the first challange, repairing carbies, wscreen rubber,a few other repaires are needed, its been sitting?rwc, rego.

What are they worth? my maroon one is insured for $18000 if something does happen to it i am up for that to rebuild it or another if i can find one?If not off to japan to import one and be out of pocket.I for one am happy to see it make that price it helps justify the value when you do want to insure them.
what value do others insure theirs for ????

ahhh yes grasshopper, the question we all wish we could answer!
i'm a firm believer in the saying that "it's not what it's worth, it's what someone will pay for it...."
ultimate aussie example is the phase III gtho. i can't see how any falcon could be worth $500k or more, let alone a 1971 falcon, but if someone is willing to pay $500k for one, then that's what the owner of the car will ask for come sale time.

personally, about that as well. i'm sure there would be a big difference in insured values tho, as some aren't as concerned about these things as others, some cars aren't as 'nice' as others, some models are more desirable than others, etc.
i agree with your comments too. my insurer said to me it doesn't matter if you're lucky enuf to have a car that owes you less than the others around, coz you have to take into account what it will cost you to fix or find another if a disaster happened, meaning exactly what you describe..... being out of pocket if it did happen due to under-valuing it.
cheers.
