First job over the winter is to sort out the GBH inflicted by Mark's nephew at Gurston Down hillclimb - apparently the youf had a disagreement with a tyre barrier.

Looks to be only panel damage, nothing that a gentle bit of persuasion with a Porta-Pack cant fix

Re: the life of rolie

Hi All,
I'm the happy new custodian of Rolie -
(Mark also handed over the pombellett moniker as the site refused my registration ?!)

As is the way in this day and age with transitioning - Rolie is now called Suzi and identifies as she/her  :? :D

I've had a lifetime of competition car ...

Still no joy selling the old racer, so we took it to the famous Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb this summer. Thought the Bellett community on the forum might enjoy this 40 seconds of fun.

Re: Mac's Racer?

Here's a couple more, my old Dutch mate Dick found these on Facebook.
This one shows Mac coming down the start/finish straight before the rain sets in.

And the second has got to be one of the best, showing the man himself with Mie Okazaki in the pit road in pre-race testing.

Polishing as we speak Glenn!
Have a look at this.....my old mate Polara Jim finally got bored of the blank panel on the back of the car. So he investigated getting a replica plate made to match the original. (See top of this page)

Yes Glen, wider by a few inches....although there was still not enough room at one point, and there was a little rub.

Kind words Matt, although 'looking good' might be pushing it a bit!....I've finally got a few shots of the race, and some of them I must admit do look good. Hope you like.

Re: the life of rolie

We got a late invite to Lydden Hill with the Bellett, and so Simon and myself and the crew trundled down to Kent to compete in four short 15 minute races between us.

Re: Wanted, info on G180SS valve clearances

The clearances are tight aren't they?....don't forget if you're running anything other than a standard cam you might want to open them up a bit.
After two munched cams and much head scratching we opted for 0.23 ex and 0.18 in.....and it seems to be working pretty well.

Re: the life of rolie

Well, the UK winter is pretty much over, and Covid is nothing more than an irritation...so we thought it time to pull the old car out of the mothballs and wake him up with a shakedown at Goodwood.
Apart from the inevitable leak here and there and a small gearbox issue, consistent 1.45s was the ...

Great work as usual Peter, the car looks spot on. And Dick, great to hear from you again, I can confirm the engine you supplied me, all those years ago, also had the bowls in between.
Although strangely the only picture I have is the one from Retro Cars.

Talking of British winters, just to let you know, what with Covid there's not much going on here in the UK...check out the famous Paddock Hill bend at Brands Hatch at the moment.

Happy memeories of our one race during the Covid days....incidentally the water stain on the tarmac left, is from Rolie's split hose and the oil stain on the right is Simon's oily Alfa!!! Every patch tells a story.

Re: the life of rolie

Dave, the roads here in the UK are pretty good, but especially down in the south, they are seriously congested, so towing is often not a lot of fun.
Back in development corner, we're having the exhaust manifold re-designed......apparently when we built the car back in 2011 we made a few schoolboy ...

One other pic that I know some of the forum will like, is one of an old mate of mine who towed is GTV to the race with his 3.2L Ferrari engined Fiat 130....apparently over the 250 mile trip it didn't miss a beat.

Re: the life of rolie

No Glen, the brakes are fine.....combination of rusty driver and incredibly nimble Speedwell A35.
Incidentally, my old mate Big Simon was at the same meeting in a GTV. In practice he lost 2nd and 4th for the rest of the day, and in qually this happened when he spun on his own oil after the filter ...
