Yeh I was hoping to be at that one to dig though the junk piles, Ipswich swap always has great junk (heaps of GT GOLD there for sure)
......but the past 4 weeks I've been working 13-16 hour days 7 days a week and this has been my first weekend off (although I did go to Caboolture swap meet n car show with OSJCC on morning of June 20th then went to work after) so today I'm running around picking up my painters trestles n planks left on last 2 job sites then pulling motor out of Bundy car tonight ready to go into Donkey next weekend....... hopefully....... fingers crossed

Well it has been a while but I have a progress report for you all........

MORE STUFF AQUIRED

24. Lockheed AP remote brake booster Check
I actually bought 2 of these, 1 for Donkey and one for my "GT" pile of bits (but it may get used in Jenny yet) now I'm saving up for a couple of disc brake conversion setups via one of our Victorian compatriots

They are brand spanking new Davo....
I bought the last 2 that the guy had. He was bringing them in from the UK when the AU dollar was good.

He normally sells them for about $450.00 ea + $29.00 ea for freight to east coast from WA.....
I got them for $337.50 ea (10% less then his cost) and free delivery, because as it turned out, when I was in Perth during the Tasmania Nats  My sister and I helped out a young lady with her baby daughter who were stranded on the side of the Mitchell FWY (HAHA Mitchell) about an hour north of Perth. She had been run off the road by a young P plater (possibly texting on their phone??) and she blew out 2 LH tyres on the verge. She only had the one spare and her phone battery was dead so she was stuck. We stopped to see if we could help, couldn't as our spare was different stud pattern. So we rang her uncle for her to bring another spare then waited with her till he arrived. We all swapped numbers/emails and went our merry ways never to actually contact each other again.
but...... and this is where the story gets interesting, I needed remote brake boosters so I got onto a mate who told me to chat to another mutual friend (who builds hotrods) who put me onto this guy, who knew a fella (in WA) who could possibly supply me with a new purpose built remote brake booster, sooooo I ring this guy and it just so happened to be the uncle of the young lady that my sister and I helped out on the side of the freeway in WA
We chatted for an hour or so about the freakish re-connection, his niece's appreciation for the help when no other person considered to stop and of course - cars, then the deal was struck (I actually had no say in it, he refused to take any more money)

ATM he has no more and won't get any more in from the UK until the dollar is right for him to, but he said I will be the very first person he contacts when he gets more in as I want at least 1 more (possibly 2) so when that day comes Davo I will let you know (but they will likely cost about $450.00 +/- & +freight)

That's why I believe in karma (well I don't really but that's a whole other story ;) )

Hey....that's an amazing story Geoff!
Davo, I had my booster reconditioned at South Coast Brake Resleeving recently.
3/44 Olympic Circuit, Southport QLD 4215
(07) 5532 4471
He has genuine PBR ( Australian Paton's Brake Replacements..a company that doesn't exist anymore) VH44 booster shells there he can make into complete VH44 ( low boost ) or VH44J ( hi boost) units. He says the Chinese copies are not much chop as they start leaking after a few years...my 23 year old VH44J was working well but had some corrosion and a small leak so I had it done with my front caliper re-kit. Give him a call and ask him how much a fellow belletter could have a complete booster for.

Cheers,
Lewis

Just when you thought the wheels had fallen off the GT bandwagon........ I found them!!!!

26. I now have a set of 13x6 Neale wheels Check

They need the barrels re-rolled as they have a very slight flat spot.
They will then get sandblasted and powdercoated to get the GT project rollin' like a wagon

Neales wheels are still going, he would be able to fit NEW rims to your centers, and make them as new again.

Yeah but to get Neale's to re-barrel them is twice the price each I can get a bloke on the sunshine coast to do them for (plus I have my own 4 13x7" barrels I could use if I was to go to that extreme) Getting them re-rolled is a quarter the cost. Besides the flat spots are so slight I could probably get away with not fixing them at all so re-barreling them would just be overkill.
I used to use Barrel Bros for this sort of thing but I'm trying to work with a budget that resembles a state of immanent bankruptcy too.
Got a mate in an old car club I used to be in making some calls for me, just waiting to hear back from him.

Neale's may well be a little more expensive, but are not too bad, and certainly get a good result.
I was looking for wheels for a customer with an Alfa a few months back, and managed to get nos Simmons centres fitted with new rims (17") for $600. I didn't think that was too bad.

That's not a bad price at all.
The other draw back for me using them though is that I would also have to pay freight down there then back again where as I can drive 40mins down the road to have them done by Graham's Street Wheels and Tyres at Slacks Creek (very highly recommended by a couple of local motor head mates)
