Hey Matt, glad Tracy wasn't hurt! The car gods were shining on you that day, a magna is a much better prospect than a Bellett in a head on, that could so easily have been more than just a story on the forum.

Good luck finding a replacement, hopefully the car gods will shine on you again with an inexpensive replacement!

Cheers,
Ross.

My Mitsubishi Magna is the most comfortable and most reliable vehicle I've ever owned and I hate it with a passion!

It's just not me...........

My nephew (Zac) came quickly to the rescue with another cheap aus car - '93 Camry 2.2 5-spd.
Good paint & no dings, but 200,000 ks more than the magna. Not as quiet, smooth, comfortable & tight as the Magna, but more economical - 7.9l/100k - about 36 mpg, and not using oil, so WAY better than the Sube! At $1600, pretty cheap.
But very Australian in construction, Rattly bonnet with no sound deadener material, thin felt over cardboard wheel cover in the boot, no cruise (or much else).
BUT the Aircon works, & thats all that really matters!!
BTW, found a motor for the Sube - start fitting it tomorrow.
Thought I might put a clutch plate in while it's apart, so I priced one today. How much?, just for the driven plate, no pressure plate, etc.?
$460!! - & thats non genuine - They reckon THEY'RE expensive!
So the old plate will do - it's only got 300 000k on it after all.
Cheers, Matt.

$460? That's cheap for a subie! Those transmissions are a good way to run up thousands! Antus had his done a while back and I think he still walks funny from the experience...

I am with you Stickman, I am not a Mitsi fan at all, I would tolerate a Lancer, but the rest of their range, YUKK!!
I had a Subie XT, what a machine, just too small for the rowing I want to do, we almost cried when it had to go, GREAT CAR. The early models did use oil. ours was a 2006 model, after the model where they introduced an new block, which as far as we were concerned it did not use a drop even towing our caravan, it still had the bottle of oil unopened, they supply when bought new, when we sold it!!

I think the mitsubisjis are ok, but i have to say that cause i work for one of the dealers! (not so keen on the service costs for any of the diesel Pajeros or Tritons!)

Hey 1968GT, that's the same model XT that I had! That was a great car but alas divorce took that one from me. Never missed a beat and towed fairly well.

Towed a Bellett about 400 odd km's into a massive head wind on a day that was 48C (no kidding) with only a small increase in temperature. Would happily get a subie again.

I would be carefull where you tread there Dave your tow vehicle is that close to a mitsi it's almost a clone ;). As a matter of fact we where involved in the push for the production of diff lockers for the pajero, the front locker out of a paj will fit the hyundai terrible can the rear lockers will be available for them soon also, the only difference paj is 32 spline/hyundai 28 spline. Mitsubishi are under estimated we use pajero's for recovery vehicles nissan, toyota owners hate it when we are contracted to recover there so called real 4wd. I am refering to real recoveries some cost $1000s of dollars btw these pajero's are extremly modified ask stickman 8-). I have added a recovery we did two weeks ago. oh did i mention the evo's. I too have had a few new mitsubishi's and can not fault them, And believe me we use them.
I am not a fan of the magna however they are a reliable vehicle there weakness is they do not like being overheated but maintained ones will last for ever.
If you want a car to insult i think there was a car called a marina :?:.

Man I gotta get me one of those Orphanage Pajero's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriusly!

It all began when I asked Greg if he knew anyone who made fibre glass bonnets which raised the question of what for and why. So I told him what I wanted under the bonnet (poking through is more the idea I had) of my tear drop, so he showed me under the bonnet of his Pajero.............
 then :o followed very closely by
Yeh that'll fit in green machine.
Long live the Pajero is all I can say.
