I would say that is an original belt colour. Generally they were matching the seat/trim colour. I imagine you would be able to have new coloured belts made there as we can here in Australia. I too admire your spirit in doing this restoration. I believe they are worth it to own. Cheers, Matt. |

Hi mates I want to buy the sets of gaskets...are these the right ones? http://www.fmecat.eu/selProd2.asp?make=54&engine=1688~G161&litre=%20&prdgrp=5&langID=1&engseal=0 Which Isuzu Bellett GT's parts are the same for other cars, like Gemini, Luv, etc? I want to buy the engine parts. The G161Z Gasket set http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Chevrolet-Isuzu-LUV-Gemini-Full-Engine-Gasket-Set-G161Z-1584cc-1975-non-US-/251261240207?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a8056438f Thanks |

Someone may correct me, but the G161 and the G161Z gaskets on the Federal Mogul site both look to be for same SOHC motors. Can anyone help Earthp with his Portuguese parts issue!? |

The part numbers for the gaskets are for the G161Z engine. Gemini OHC engine. These are not suitable for your engine being OHV. If your chasing rings and bearings they WILL fit. Dave. |

There is a gasket set listed by WORLD WIDE IMPORTS on ebay. Listed as Chev Luv '73 - '74. The only parts that will fit your engine in this kit is the front timing seal. This seal you can get from your local auto store. Fits all Isuzu small gasoline engines. OHV and OHC. The headgasket might. But. I really don't know for sure as the Chev. LUV in the States were all OHC. Any listing on the bearings and rings check the fine print. It's rare to see standard size posted. Most are oversize. If you do decide to overhaul your engine, get a micrometer and measure accordingly. You have a big job ahead of you in repairing the bodywork as it is. It looks like the "Yellow Terror GT" at Farmers. Only his has a Fred Flinstone floorpan. ie. NONE. Dave. |

New developments Sand blasting... I'll put some pics with the primer later Conclusion: The GT needs a lot of work, it's really in badshape, but the car really deserves the effort. When the car left the sand blasting company, I saw one thing, I think that my Bellett was originally RHD and not LHD as I thought, because I saw some detais about that change. The Bellett GT was only produced in RHD? Because I saw only a few GT's LHD on the web... maybe the GT's were only made RHD and then in Europe people changed to LHD like my Bellett What do you think about this? Another doubt...look at the front grille of my Bellett GT. I think I never saw one grille like this one. |

That is a PR91 GT grill, single headlight 1967 to late 1968, Your car looks a lot different now that it has been sand blasted, brings a lot of memories back to me, I have had a couple of GT at this stage and it is a long way to the finished job, I do believe that you have the enthusiasm to carry this project out, and I wish you all the best with it. Good luck and if we can help in any way, give us a yell. Geoff |

Hi again Pedro, This brochure here; http://ns1.bellett.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=1688 ...was created for Canada and shows a factory LHD Bellett GT. Having said that, I don't know how many were actually built and sold. Some of the boys in Scandanavian Europe have some LHD Bellett GTs too, I believe. None of this helps identify yours as factory LHD or not though! The pedals rubbers aren't right... but that's not likely to really be a clue, I'm sure! All the dials etc look to be in the right places. The bonnet release on yours is over on the right-hand-side, I see; I don't know if that's the case for the LHD cars or not. I have no answers! |

You're right Dave, there's LHD Bellett GT. Quote: The bonnet release on yours is over on the right-hand-side PR95, I never saw this front grille with this center Isuzu logo |

Earthp wrote: PR95, I never saw this front grille with this center Isuzu logo I'm not sure that's the grille PR95 Geoff thinks it is. The grille doesn't look wide enough to be the single headlight grille, on 1967 to 1968 Bellett GTs... besides that kind of grille looks like this: Attachment: 1967 Isuzu Bellett GT grille.JPG [ 383.07 KiB | Viewed 52747 times ] What I think you've got there, is the grill badge from the above, single headlight grille (single meaning one at each end, not two at each end!) from 1967 to late 1968....but I think it's been screwed to a late 1968 to 1971 twin-headlight grille... see below: Attachment: Bellett sedan front.jpg [ 93.32 KiB | Viewed 52747 times ] The GT and the sedan had the same grille by the '1969 model' (released late 1968) except the sedan had a 1500 badge seen here, while the Bellett GT1600 had a 'GT' badge. This late-model grille has chrome bars top and bottom, as well as two sets of twin bars above and below the 1500/GT badge, exactly the same as yours. It also has three vertical supports holding the chrome bars together; two skinny ones either side and a fat one in the middle; the same thing can be seen in that brochure photo above. Judging by the shape of your tail light holes, the grille that is supposed to be with the car is the one you can see in the first photo... but it appears it's probably been damaged at some stage and replaced, but whoever fixed it retained the original grille badge to confuse and confound future restoration efforts! It's like archaeology! I hope that helps! Cheers, Dave |

Also, if you do restore it with the 'wrong' grille... have no fear. A LOT of the Bellett GTs in Australia either have the wrong grille or the wrong tail lights, either off the wrong model or off a sedan! |

Indiana Bellett Dave, the grille it's that of the Bellett Sedan, but the logo seems to be from there...but, note sure. could be a grille that made the transition from that with only one headlight to the double headlight? My Bellett is the PR91 model, G161 Engine and from 1967. Check this photo...LHD and the bonnet release it's on the right-hand-side I'm almost 100% sure, that mt Bellett was originally RHD. After the sandblasting I saw some signs that proves that theory...check these 2 photos. There's a hole closed by an unperfect rounded piece of metal on the right side (RHD driver's side). Another thing, in the center of the dashboard, my Bellett has the bottons of the windshield wipers on the left side and the lights on the right side. I think that in LHD Belletts the bottons of the lights are on the left side. RHD Driver's side RHD Driver's side floor LHD The new hole made and unperfect |

The rust in the floor where you cut it out is not unusual but the gearbox hump is a new one for me but not that hard to fix 1 patch at a time. See through sills are common too. Phills rotories are selling replacement sills for a chev luv i have only seen pictures of them but i have made the suggestion to phill i pick them up as they look to be simular with the guard rebate in them for lizzies other wasp. He gets them from overseas he may ship the direct if they fit as they are not that easy to fold new ones. I had a few complete ones made but they have been used. Give me a month or so and i will advise if luv ones will work. |

The Rust hole looks like it started from the accelerator pedal base I think there is a void beneath this in the floor pan makes you wary to protect these areas |
