I had a complete new clutch fitted in my Sport a while back. The mechanic said the clutch adjustment was right on the limit and the rod needs to be extended.

I managed to recently find a suitable bolt, (grade 8 100mm long) longer than the original rod, to use. I fitted it up and it's working although not yet driven apart from a quick test in the garage.

I would like to know more about actual adjustment. ie what is "correct".

Right now I have about 50mm of free play and the clutch engages with the pedal about 1/2 to 2/3rd up from the floor.

is this Ok or what do most of you do for adjustment?

Glenn

I'm not sure about everyone else but that is about the same free play as my '68 sedan and I've never had any problems over the years.

Looks like a good fix.

Ross

Generally "free play" is not super critical - just so long as it has "free play" and once depressed, the clutch disengages cleanly.

Kerry
do you think the engagement level may be too high ?

Hi Glenn

I put a HD Rodeo Clutch in mine and I had to do the same (mine still uses the pushrods to activate the clutch rather than a slave cylinder)

Sounds like you are on the right track

thanks, yes i had the option to fit that setup as HD also but on cost, just went with the Gemini. Apart from the rod nothing else had to be changed on my '72. And yes, still pushrod setup per standard Bellett.
