Jideco!!

Post by GTtoo »

Not taking anything away from all the other good stuff on "General Bellett Chat", or breaking up the "Rumour Mill" for a while, I've thrown up pics of my "Jideco" for some light relief and comment.

It was in the way when I did the recent starter motor transplant from the top. So I took it out and gave it a quick wipe, as this was a snotty part of the engine bay. Also a good opportunity to clean that part of the bay.

Could have posted this on "Misc technical section" or "Parts for sale". But I figured it's more than miscellaneous and not for sale.

However, if some one is desperate for a "Jideco" I can negotiate something.

Not so dumbass, mate. It's got me wondering :?:  I guess there was a strong connection with Australia anyway. The japs were importing steel to make cars, right ? Or was there a batch of these accessories made to fit the 300 odd GT's that were destined for Oz ?

The instructions in fine print next to the old school emblem are in three languages. Japanese, english and I think spanish or italian.

The english reads: "Caution. Use our special solvent only. Do not use soap suds ".

Does anyone know if Jideco actually means anything in translation or is just a brand name ?

jideco was a Japanese company that made small electrical parts for cars. like the washer bag motor. the kangaroo was just a product name they used. i have no idea what a roo has in common with washers tho! jideco is now part of the mitsuba corporation in Japan. strangely enuf mitsuba made the horns on Bellett's so they have alot in common. cheers!

Always got some info PR91, thanks mate. So Jideco was just another company, also like Hitachi which goes back a long way.

Quote "hard little SHITTY bag that hangs on the inside skirt of a GT"

That is a very appropriate literal translation there IGT.   , But so very true. However there is also a technical translation : " Motorized Colostomy Bag".

As for a roo on the bag. Didn't the Japenese often use animals to symbolise something ? For example, the unusual beast which was the emblem for '70's Isuzus.
