The John Mott Memorial Sprint is a sprint meeting hosted by the Nissan Car Club of Australia at the famous Sandown Motor Race Way in Melbourne Australia. What started out as a bit of chat over a cup of coffee at the Bellett Dirvers HQ (Trackside Race and Rally Tyres http://www.tracksidetyres.com.au/) turned out to be a full blown grudge match involving 3 Bellett sedans of different tune and one owner even brought in a highly skilled and ultra light weight interstate driver to see if he could give the edge needed to be the fastest Bellett of the day.
Now that I have set the scene for the big event I will introduce to the drivers and the cars that were used on the day.

Starting on the right you have Tomanybelletts a.k.a Craig, 65Bellett aka Gav , 2ltrDOHC Ross and PR91 aka Brett.
Now to the all important thing the cars. Tomanybelletts was using his Roman Red 1965 model Isuzu Bellett Rally car with his custom built Tarmac suspension. This thing is a real sleeper, from the outside it looks like a tough old historic rally car with quite a sedate exhaust note and induction roar but once it rolls out onto the track it is an absolute rocket ship!!! I don't know exactly what has been to the engine and will let him fill you in with exacting details but the one thing I will tell you is after seeing this thing fly around the track the 1500 ohv engine the Bellett was blessed with has a lot of tuning potential. PR91 was using his well proven Race Car. PR91 has an excellent threadhttp://www.bellett.net/forums/vie ... f=13&t=709 about the car that is well worth the read. The car is extremely competitive and has given many a modern sports car a fright as it has flown past. There is most definitely nothing subtle about this car, it is bright loud and much to my annoyance a lot quicker than my car

On the track the PR91 Bellett race car was clearly the fastest of the day, but in saying that the Tomanybelletts rally car was not that far behind it and for me was a real surprise as to just how quick these two cars really were. Both cars tussled for the lead all day and flew the Bellett flag extremely high. Unfortuately after a couple of sessions out on the track the Rally car started to get a bit of an intermittent miss that was not able to be remedied at the track and PR91's race car on the last lap of the day blew the number 1 spark plug out of the head!!! Now to the news you have all been sitting on the edge of your seats waiting for "How did the Pat Crea car and the ultra light weight Tamed Racing Driver go"? Well we definitely were the oldest car out there and we were best looking and we were the only car with a trophy for being the runner up peoples choice car at the Bellett Nationals 2010, but alas we were the slowest
