Post by Glenn »

at auction, no bids as yet, started at 30,000 Yen ($375.00 !) 3 days left.

needs a lot of work but does have what appears to be a 1800cc DOHC fitted, 4 speed.

http://page18.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/w73944866

at that price, landed about $5k

Glenn if you buy this one and the racing GT you could build your self a very nice car and have a large collection of saleable parts to fund the perfect winter project

It would be a very long winter project !

If that car was here, you would snap it up in a moment for the bits alone but paying $375 for the car then 5k or so to bring it home, perhaps not !
Actually more as it would have to come in a container... possible $1500 more again.

Gotta ask Glenn........Where are you getting your shipping costs from????

These types of cars would most likely only be shipped in a container. Very unlikely that it would be capable of RoRo shipping. Any car that needs resto would need to be shipped via container.

my costs are based on on roll on....... including all costs, clearance, de-reg, import agent, gst, FOB etc etc..... it runs about 6k out of Japan. Depends on price of a car also of course.

i have been told to add about $1500 for a container.

what costs are you finding?

my breakdown is this, from 2 importers:

FOB costs $1200
shipping and customs agents etc $2000
import agent 2 in Melbourne I asked, one charges $990, the other $1100
to find cars, do the paperwork, organise shipping etc
telegraphic transfer fees, $22 to local bank, $35 to international bank
(not itemised, but "loss" due to Bank currency exchange rates typicall 3-4%)
10% GST obviously depends on value of car on landed cost

On a $10,000 car in Japan, my estimate from above is about $6000 in 'costs'
