Scaffolding up. The boys voted it to be turned into some bunk beds later.

Re: Mount Stradbroke Bellett Shed and things.
I was told of a BELLEL in Pick a part so I rushed over to get it , only to find out that once a car is in the yard , it doesn't come out ! So with 2 hours til closing I managed to retreive a G200 twin carb motor , 2 speed wiper,
washer bottle & heater fan . I also found a GT twin carb setup under the back seat of the Bellett next to it .
Unfortunately , I was too late for some parts - badges etc had been taken , didn't know till now about the other stuff . Took photos , but can't find them now .

I'm jealous!! Your neighbour is further on than me. All I really did today was tighten 24 bolts to heartattack ft/lb. on just one frame.Glenn wrote:my neighbour 2 doors away is doing same thing right now. taking a while but getting there......Gunna wrote:Scaffolding up. Now I understand the term "slowly but surely".

On the g200 motor, was it the same block as a g150/161 block in terms of distance between the cylinders? I'm looking at how many cc's one could oversize a g160 block.

Re: Mount Stradbroke Bellett Shed and things.
If memory serves correctly, George Steeden once bored a G161to 1800 and fitted Datsun 180b pistons. I believe it ran hot as the metal between piston and water jacket was too thin. Or it might be that it was ok until he tried to go to 2000, I'm not sure. But proceed carefully, there needs to be metal in there.Gunna wrote:Thanks for that. Re: Mount Stradbroke Bellett Shed and things.
Thx Matt,
That good to know. I was worried about the distance/spacing between the bores. I was told overnight that apparently the g200 block was longer than the G150/160. When I get to the boring stage I'll get the cylinders ultrasonically measured and let you guys know. It may be of use to others. Gotta love technology.

Pic of day (from yesterday).
No slaves today that I can command. So the only progress that will happen is printing out the 107 pages of instructions on "how to put up a shed".
I know! boring & no pictures nor rumours about belletts or their history. Sigh.

Hi Dean,
In relation to how far can the engine be taken, I believe the Wheels magazine "stage 3" Bellett was taken to 1800cc. Teditor may be able to give you more info on that, as I believe he ended up with that car. I think there may also be a copy of the article on here somewhere.

Hi All
'Asroc' is a G161 block which I bored and sleeved to 84mm with custom forged pistons G180 size
Equates to 1662cc
Shift torque and power up the rev range with a decent cam
Standard 1600cc AJ150? head gasket and good to go
Only point is the rear passenger water jacket - if overly coroded then not much for the gasket to cover
Cheers

Sorry, can't help you on that one, I had the ex Bob Drane car, none of my engines were ever over stock capacity.67GT wrote:Hi Dean,

Thx for the info guys. It seems that a good set of forged pistons and rods is a good start.

I snapped a 8.8 high tensile 16 mm shank bolt today. I now know their limits

Probably dont need them quite that tight Dean!
Looks like you are having fun though, this is an epic build.
Filling it will be more fun.
Cheers, Matt.

Re: Mount Stradbroke Bellett Shed and things.
Not slow mate, just huge! One bolt at a time, each one is one less.
I hope you bought a big box of teks, that is going to take a lot of covering!
Keep those pics coming, nothing better than seeing someone build their dream shed......other than building their dream Bellett!
Cheers, Matt.
