you would have to factor in costs of getting to Tullamarine airport, and also Launceston to the boat in Tassie.

Sailing times. Appears all are night sailing apart from Months shown below.

It's not that bad Brett, although depends on your preferred comfort level !.

If you are willing to sit each way for $94, there's previous little difference compared to flying cost. (roughly $160 return with luggage)
Only extra cost is to take Bellett in that comparison.

I have no idea what it costs to hire a car out of Launceston but over 4 days say, it's probably similar.

I was just stating that bringing a car isn't an option for me as I can only be there for a shorter time than most, and that's providing I can attend at all, as explained a while ago, so there may be others who can't bring their car as well for whatever reason.... So the cost of sea travel doesn't have a bearing on myself.

This discussion led me to do a dry booklng. We will be travelling sooner, so group discount may not apply. All up for 2 adults, 2 kids and 2 cars with a 4 berth non porthole cabin is $1184 return.
I reckon this is ok - travel plus accommodation.
To compare, its about 500ks each way. 1000ks x 8l/100k is 80lt x $1.60 is $128 (fuel)
plus 2 nights (Adelaide equiv.) @ $204/night...............................................is $408
Airfares @ $274 return ea x 4.........................................................................is $1096
Total................is $ 1632
Boat is lookin cheap!

But yeah, gotta do some saving!

Gunna be good though - a months touring plus Bellett love :D Cant imagine not going!

Cheers, Matt.

Yeah righto, the fuel cost is probably a stretch, I was thinking, if there was a road.......
but even without the 128, its still dearer.
:P
