$1 Res! - The GT-R / GT-R Replica GT - New Zealand
Hi team, I am sure many of you have seen this car listed before.
I do not wish to start another debate, but thought I would re-post it, as the owner has now listed it as a $1 reserve auction, after months and months of asking $12-18,000.

Someone could get themselves a cheap Bellett!

If anybody is interested, i contacted an importer here and costs to ship to Australia to your door, is about $4000. Could be more, depending on final sale price.

I have been told if you take guards and doors and a few bits off the and pack it in a container and say it's for parts its cheaper ? to import general freight than cars.

You can't register it, if the car is imported as parts.

do they record it when it comes in? as the cars we registerd they can't find anyway too were family owned with proof but they still cant find them. In saying this we have had transport problems registering them.

Yes, and you'll need to present the import papers for registration. Of course, if you have filled in the DOTARS (or whatever they're called now), and it is imported as a car (i.e. not parts), you'll have no problems. If the car is imported as parts, it must stay parts, unless (as Oz mentioned) you pinch the ID plate and rego details off an Aussie GT.
This is what the government has been trying to stamp out, hence the laws re: parts cars.

The actual freight is about $1500. the rest consumed in various taxes and charges.

Has anyone looked into a NZ import? What's the shipping costs? Are there any duties?
With the prices and variety of cars over there, it's very tempting...everything is 30-50% cheaper than Australia, loads of cool J-Tin. Remember the good old days when people used to tell stories of 1950's Austin's the price of a new Holden Commodore, the roads crawling with classics and our poor cousin's over the ditch struggling to keep them on the road? Well, that's us now!
