nah not enough money to get it done fast enough..hence why it was a 4 year wait for a paintjob! its has taken me a while to save this much so far!

Re: Waldo's GTR Build
Very neat. Love seing these progress pictures, Waldo.
Where does the return line from the engine go back into the fuel tank ?
I assume you are using efi.
On the white GT, I fitted another line into the tank and mounted the pump up under the rear quarter, beside the tank. efi pumps usually don't like to lift fuel from the tank as they can run dry if left for a while. Hence most modern cars have the pump (or a primer pump) in the tank.
I didn't use a surge tank like you have. I don't think they existed when i did my efi job !

The return line from the engine goes straight into the surge tank not the fuel tank...thats the point of the surge tank (to always be full) the surge tank over flow goes back into the fuel tank the line running across the back that plumbs into the tank. still have the line to run up to the engine...the fuel tank breather and the line into the surge tank from the main fuel tank.

Re: Waldo's GTR Build
I ran a efi pump straight from the tank they gravity feed quite well, we ran a fuel pressure gauge for a while and it was no issue. As for your surge tank are you relying on the return line to keep the tank full
It is my belief that a primer pump would be a better option as rotating the fuel through the fuel rail constanly will heat the fuel. If you return it to the tank it will allow it to cool with the prime pump drawing from the main tank
I don't fully understand your set up
but i am getting old

Re: Waldo's GTR Build
no there is a gravity fed pump underneath the fuel tank that supplies the surge tank only. but the return line comes back from the engine to top up the surge tank aswell. The point of a surge tank is to be full all the time so there is no chance of fuel starvation no matter how hard your cornering. With surge tanks you have a lifter pump drawing fuel from your main tank, to fill the surge tank then the fuel is drawn from the surge tank and pumped to the engine, the return line from the engine goes back into the surge tank to make sure the fuel in the surge is always full, then there is an overflow that goes back into the main fuel tank from the surge tank only. Then you have a fuel tank breather on the main tank to allow air to enter once the fuel leaves the tank. in my picture i have only done the overflow back into main tank and the surge fuel pump to the engine. Still have two more lines to make.

Re: Waldo's GTR Build
So, you do have a lifter pump under the car.... with a new outlet from the tank underneath also..
Rotary vane efi fuel pumps will fail if there is no fuel in them, for even only a few seconds.
By the way, you must have a fuel filter before the efi pump too as any crap in the fuel with kill the pump.

Re: Waldo's GTR Build
yep running a new holley pump has an inline filter before the lifter pump too. it has a 90 degree elbow from the bottom of the tank to the holley pump.

Surge Tank setup Finally complete. Just waiting for the tank to come back from the powdercoaters.
Holley Lift Pump From Tank to Surge Tank all plumbed in.

Re: Waldo's GTR Build
yes yes it is upside down! thats the way i bought it and how the previous owners had it..u can even see where the leaf spring holders have bent and broken cos they had it in the wrong way...i have to get onto that next just have to find some urethane to redo the rubber bushes for it.

Re: Waldo's GTR Build
yeah the bushes at the end of the leaf spring...im going to see if i can just get a solid cylinder piece of urethane drill a hole down the center.
