When Isuzu is in the news it gets my attention...
DETROIT --
(AP) — Isuzu is recalling more than 11,000 Rodeo Sport and Amigo SUVs because rear suspension parts can rust and break away from the frame.
The recall affects Amigos from the 1998 to 2001 model years and Rodeo Sports from 2002.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the recall covers vehicles in 21 states and Washington, D.C., where salt is used to clear the roads.
Isuzu says the rear suspension link brackets can rust and become detached from the frame. The problem can hurt the vehicle's handling and cause a crash.
Isuzu dealers will inspect the suspensions and treat them with a rust-resistant compound or install a reinforcing bracket.
The company will notify owners by mail and start the recall later this month.
Isuzu officials were not immediately available for comment

This is the same group / owner demographic, who, though they could not identify the radiator or the coolant reservoir, complained incessantly that the 4ZD1 and 4ZE1 engines were prone to overheating when run without any water.
A rusted suspension bracket sounds a lot more like maintenance, upkeep, remembering to wash the winter road salt off, and peeking under the car every once in a while to see if anything is awry. I guess all those soccer moms finally found a good class action lawyer. And Isuzu must have bought the tooling for the bracket back from Jaingling in China.
There are plenty of rust problems caused by design in the cars that never got addressed:
The double wall shock towers of the JR Piazzas.
The rear edge of the floor pan, the rocker panels, and the rear quarter panels of the JT1 Geminis.
The forward corners of the floor pan of the JT0 Geminis.
No chance of them recalling those, the tooling was melted down decades ago.

Re: Isuzu Recall
Pretty amazing that any manufacturer would recall 10yr+ cars for fix-ups. Like you say JT, don't wash the salt off steel & its probably gonna rust! Next they'll have to build 'em of Stainless! Delorian anyone? Actually, yes please.

Re: Isuzu Recall
Perhaps they're super worried because the suspension can actually fall apart whereas most other rust issues don't cause the car to drive any differently (well, unless the rust is like, incredible). That's all I can think of; I mean, how many cars do you see that have holes everwhere that still drive OK?
Except NSW of course, where they have annual roadworthies.
Actually, cars as rusty as that are getting rarer here in SA; those that are that rusty have rusted away and newer cars tend to die of other causes before they get that rusty!
